About Bentonite:
Bentonite is Hydrated Aluminium Silicate having typical physical properties like Swelling, Plasticity & Water Absorption. Mineralogical name of Bentonite is “Montmorillonite”, designated by the chemical formula (Al,Fe1.67Mg.33)Si10(OH)2Na(+)Ca(++)/2.33. Montmorrilonite composition consists of two basic building blocks of alumina octahedral sheet and one silica tetrahedral sheet.
We find both type of Bentonite i.e Calcium & Sodium based. The color of the clay varies as cream, light green, reddish tinge, tannish brown to dark brown based on deposits which are mainly occur along the contact zones of Deccan trap & Laterite formations, in some places also occurs below the deccan traps. Age of the Kutch Bentonite of lower pileocene (65 Million Years)
Bentonite deposit in Kutch varies in different forms like lenses, pockets & veain shaped bodies. The thickness of Bentonite varies from 1 – 10 meters. In some areas Bentonite occurs below 25 meters.
Water absorption property makes bentonite versatile mineral and is suitable for various industries and different grades decide the process of end usage.
Bentonite :
Foundry:
Foundry, the oldest method, bentonite is used in preparation of moulding sand particularly for green sand molding, steel and non-ferrous casting.
We selectively mined and process with necessary additives to achieve good thermal conductivity at higher temperature. Our processed bentonite has numbers of characteristics such as it develops good green and dry strength and better flow, high thermal stability, easy to develop sharp and strong mold edge and corners, excellent ramability, good mold strength in HPML, develop good strength at lower additions, etc
Mixing ratio depends on sand fineness and it quality. Clay particles and impurities of sand will affect Green Strength properties.
Drilling:
Bentonite is an organophilic clay that is a highly effective rheological additive for oil & synthetic based fluids systems, specially at elevated temperatures. Bentonite is derivative of a hectorite clay that is highly effective rheological additive for solids suspension & hole cleaning in oil & synthetic based drilling fluids
Bentonite is stable at elevated temp above 1500C & is effective for improving rheological properties and controlling sag. Bentonite also helps to reduce HPHT fluid invasion
Iron Ore Palletization:
Due to bentonite’s water absorption capacity and colloidal properties, bentonite is used as binding additives to convert iron ore fines to pallets.
Fine powder helps in to develop good strength pallets. Even at lower additions develops excellent green and dry ball strength. Better binding strength is maintained before and after firing of pallets. High absorption capacity enables to build bond of pallets and prevent caking or clumping.
Civil Engineering:
Civil Engineering grade bentonite is sodium based processed colloidal bentonite treated with polymers. Grades are customized according to meet rheological property to achieve desired marsh funnel viscosity.
Sodium Bentonite is suitable for Piling, Diaphragm Walling, Trenchless Drilling, HDD, Micro Tunneling & Shield Tunneling. Bentonite is grind to fine powder to form thixotropic gel allowing slurry to penetrating deep into cleavages cracks and clogging the pores. At lower dosages develops good suspensions as soil sealing and friction agent, also stabilizes the excavations.
Fertilizer:
Bentonite being an eco-friendly carrier of fertilizers and is widely accepted by DAP, NPK and SULPHUR fertilizer manufacturers.
It enhance microbial activities and improves the fertility of the soils, provides an envelope to grain thereby reducing loss of product, keeps grain dry, act as an soil activator & has many others characteristics.
It seals lower bed of the soil to reduce percolation of water and decreases water pollution. It acts as a soil activator and turns saline soil into neutral. Helps to increase the dark colour of the leaves, enhancing thereby it’s photosynthesis process which is very important for the growth and good health of the plant. There is an appreciable increase in the yields of the crops due to improved soil health.

Live Stock Feed:
Bentonite clay is in the smectite group of clays. This is important because bentonite is the only one that absorbs AND adsorbs toxins and impurities.
Absorption is like a sponge, where toxins are taken into the clay molecule. Adsorption refers to the ability of toxins to attach to the surface area of the clay molecule. These two actions together make bentonite highly desirable. Bentonite clay have the swelling potential, and do not allow water to filter through them.

Pond Sealing & GCL
Bentonite as a sealant is used at leaking ponds and for making blankets also known as GCL (Geo-Synthetic Clay Liners).
Pond Sealant:
Selectively mined bentonite by us are processed to hold water and make surface to zero seepage. With re-swelling nature and re-hydration, particles are easy dispersed in water and obtain high absorbency.
Natural Sodium Bentonite is recommended for pond sealing and similar application. Coarser particle size is advisable for excellent dispersion.

Earthing:

Back Fill Compound:
We also process BFC (back fill compound). BFC is a composition of Bentonite Powder and Graphite Powder at 70:30%, 60:40% ratios or as per your needs.
Graphite – basically carbon, graphite assists conductivity, again to enhance conductivity & resistivity. When added into the soil, back filling retains 350 to 500% moisture of the total volume. With less than 0.40Ω/cm resistivity between the mineral compounds makes it ideal especially for dry and rocky soil belt.

Natural property of viscosity and thixotropic in bentonite makes suitable to use for paper processing to avoid agglomeration in particle distribution.
